Dr. Josef Malkis, D.C.

Chiropractor and founder of Manhattan Chiropractic Health Services, 7 West 45th Street, Midtown.

Dr. Josef Malkis examining a patient's shoulder

Dr. Josef Malkis earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Life University in Marietta, Georgia, one of the largest chiropractic colleges in the world, and has spent his career in practice in Manhattan. His office on West 45th Street serves the people who work in Midtown and the people who travel in for it: office workers with necks shaped by screens, athletes training for a marathon or a season, people recovering after a collision, and expectant mothers whose backs are carrying more than usual.

His approach is built on examining before adjusting. A first visit starts with a history and a hands-on assessment of how each joint moves, and the treatment that follows is chosen from what the examination found. He combines Diversified adjusting with Active Release Technique, Flexion Distraction and decompression, and every plan ends with exercise, because joints that are moved today will stiffen again unless the muscles around them change.

Dr. Malkis treats patients in English, Hebrew and Russian. His practice has more than a thousand verified patient reviews on Zocdoc with an average rating of 4.9, and the themes repeat: short waits, clear explanations, and relief that often starts at the first visit.

How a visit works here

1. Listen

Your history, what makes it better and worse, what you have tried, and what you need your body to do.

2. Examine

Range of motion, joint-by-joint palpation, orthopedic and neurological tests. Imaging only if the findings call for it.

3. Treat and teach

Adjustment and soft-tissue work for what the exam found, then exercises you take home. A plan with an end date, not an open tab.

Assisted neck stretch
Seated neck assessment
Sacroiliac adjustment

Pain is information. Let us read it with you.
